How Deadset Decks Works

What Deadset Decks Is

Deadset Decks Melbourne is an introduction service — not a builder, not a contractor, and not a project manager.

We introduce Melbourne homeowners to local deck builders from our roster. The builder you are matched with will quote, contract, and deliver the work directly to you. Your contract is with the builder, not with Deadset Decks.

We do not employ or subcontract any builders. We do not supervise building work. We do not hold domestic building insurance for the projects we introduce.

What We Check Before a Builder Joins Our Roster

Before adding a builder to our roster, we conduct the following checks:

  • Personal interview to assess experience and approach
  • Review of their portfolio of completed work
  • Reference calls with previous clients
  • Verification of VBA registration or Certificate III in Carpentry

These checks are conducted at the time of onboarding. We do not continuously monitor builder registrations, insurance status, or ongoing compliance.

What You Should Confirm With Your Builder Before Signing

Before signing a contract with your builder, we recommend you confirm the following:

  • Current VBA registration (if required for your project)
  • Domestic building insurance coverage
  • Public liability insurance
  • Permit requirements for your specific project
  • Written quote and contract terms
  • Payment schedule and deposit amounts
  • Timeline and completion date
  • Warranty terms for materials and workmanship

The builder is solely responsible for their registrations, insurance, permits, and the quality of work delivered.
